UN Women says female aid workers in Afghanistan should be able to continue their humanitarian activities safely and without restrictions on their movement.
The organization said on Wednesday, September 2, in a post on X that female aid workers are often the only way for women and girls to access the assistance they need.
The UN added that female aid workers can facilitate women’s and girls’ access to vital information, support, and essential services.
UN Women emphasized that Afghan female aid workers should be able to work safely and without restrictions on their movement.
The call comes as women in Afghanistan face widespread restrictions on employment, education, freedom of movement, and participation in social activities.
Restrictions on women’s work and movement have also affected humanitarian organizations’ ability to provide services to women and girls in Afghanistan.
