The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has said that Afghan returnees are in greater need of humanitarian assistance and life-saving support than ever before.
In a post on X on Sunday, July 19, UNHCR expressed its appreciation for the support provided by Islamic Relief USA to its border response programs in Afghanistan.
The agency said the assistance helps deliver life-saving services, protection for vulnerable individuals, emergency relief, and other essential support to Afghan returnees.
UNHCR stressed that the assistance comes at a time when returning Afghans require humanitarian support more urgently than ever.
In recent months, as the number of Afghans returning from neighboring countries has increased, humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned of growing needs at border crossings and emphasized the importance of sustaining assistance for returnees.
