The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan has said, marking the International Day of the Girl, that the country’s future depends on the opportunities provided to girls today.

In a message on Sunday, October 11, the agency said that investing in girls’ education, skills training and health helps strengthen communities and build a more resilient country.

UNDP added that every girl deserves the opportunity to reach her full potential.

The International Day of the Girl, observed annually on October 11, aims to raise awareness of girls’ rights and highlight the challenges and discrimination they face around the world.
