The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced the establishment of over two thousand simple and smart cold storage units for farmers in Afghanistan.
On Sunday, June 29, 2025, the organization stated in a post on X that, in collaboration with partners and local communities, it has established more than two thousand small, climate-adapted, simple, and smart greenhouses across Afghanistan.
The organization added that families can now grow fresh and nutritious vegetables at home.
According to the FAO, these individuals not only improve their household diets but also generate income from surplus produce.
It is worth noting that a significant portion of farmers’ products in Afghanistan is lost annually due to the lack of suitable and standardized cold storage facilities.
