The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan says 179,845 people across the country were tested for tuberculosis (TB) through a Global Fund-supported TB project from April to June 2026.
The agency said on Sunday, September 13, on X that the initiative provided people with access to active case-finding, diagnosis and comprehensive TB treatment services.
Tuberculosis, or TB, is an infectious disease that primarily affects the lungs and can spread through the air from one person to another.
Early detection and timely treatment are considered important factors in controlling and preventing the spread of the disease.
