Tajudeen Oyewale, the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Afghanistan, states that children in Afghanistan, particularly girls, are unable to attend school due to a lack of water and sanitation services.

On Monday, 21 July 2025, Oyewale wrote in a statement that nine schools in Logar province have been equipped with clean water and sanitation facilities.

According to him, more than 2,300 students will benefit from these services.

UNICEF had previously warned that by 2030, Kabul’s water resources will be completely depleted.

It is worth noting that most children in Afghanistan’s schools do not have access to clean water.
