The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that it will provide treatment for malnutrition to around 1.3 million children in Afghanistan in 2026.
UNICEF said on Wednesday, September 30, in a post on X that large numbers of children across Afghanistan remain at risk of malnutrition.
The organization said children identified as suffering from malnutrition receive treatment services and therapeutic food after being identified and screened.
UNICEF added that providing the necessary care and therapeutic food can help improve the condition of children suffering from malnutrition.
UNICEF had previously announced that 3.7 million children in Afghanistan suffer from malnutrition, including around one million children experiencing severe and life-threatening malnutrition.
