Reports from local sources reveal that unidentified gunmen have assassinated a former local police commander in Faryab Province.
As per accounts from informants speaking to Hasht-e Subh Daily, the victim, identified as “Khan Sherin Tagabi,” met a fatal end when unknown assailants shot him on Monday, January 1, within the confines of the city of Maimana’s fifth district.
It has been disclosed that Khan Sherin had relocated to Maimana after the Taliban assumed control of the city. The motive behind the killing of this former government military official remains enigmatic at this point.
Up until now, the Taliban has refrained from making any comments on this matter.
It is pertinent to note that following the resurgence of the Taliban to power, numerous former government military personnel have lost their lives in various incidents orchestrated by the group or unidentified armed individuals throughout the country.
The citizens of the country commonly attribute such incidents to the Taliban’s involvement, but the group consistently rebuffs these allegations.
