JD Vance, the US vice president, has blamed the war between the United States and Iran for the Republican Party’s defeat in the country’s midterm congressional elections.

In a post on X on Wednesday night, November 4, Vance wrote that there would be considerable internal debate and disagreement over what had happened and why.

He said four main factors contributed to the Republicans’ defeat: the war with Iran, inflation, domestic conditions in the United States, and relations with Israel.

“The reason for our defeat is the war. President Donald Trump himself also referred to this issue last night,” Vance added.

The US vice president had previously expressed views on the war with Iran and sought to bring it to an end through diplomatic means.

However, following the Republican Party’s defeat in the midterm elections, questions remain over the future of the war with Iran.
