U.S. Vice President JD Vance has said that the war with Iran will enter a much different phase in the coming months, adding that Washington’s next objective is to prevent Iran from rebuilding its military capabilities.
Al Jazeera reported early Wednesday, September 16, that the U.S. vice president made the remarks while backing recent comments by U.S. President Donald Trump about the war with Iran.
According to the report, Vance said the United States considers the first phase of the war with Iran to have ended.
“We cannot predict the future, but I think the president is right when he says that this will enter a much different phase in the next few months,” he said.
According to Vance, the second phase of the war will focus on ensuring that Iran cannot rebuild its military capabilities and on maintaining global stability afterward.
This comes as Iran has continued its missile attacks in the region, despite claims by Trump and other U.S. officials that Iran’s military capabilities have been destroyed.
