The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported that a vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz.
The organization said early Sunday, September 13, that the incident occurred late Saturday, Greenwich Mean Time.
The British organization said the condition of the crew, the extent of the damage and any environmental impact from the incident remain unknown.
However, UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity so that authorities can investigate the incident.
This comes as tensions and conflict between Iran and the United States over control of the Strait of Hormuz have made the international waterway highly insecure for months.
