Continued fighting between the Houthis and Yemeni government forces in various parts of the country has displaced more than 200,000 people.
Al Jazeera reported early Sunday, October 4, that displaced people had taken shelter in tents between the provinces of Taiz and Aden.
According to the report, vulnerable groups, including elderly people and children, are living in the tents under extremely difficult conditions after being forced to flee their homes in areas along the western coast.
The report said the displaced have been living for more than 20 days without humanitarian assistance, surviving by collecting grains and plants from nearby valleys.
It added that escalating clashes in western Yemen have forced some displaced Yemenis to leave their homes two, three, or even four times.
Meanwhile, fighting between the Houthis and Yemen’s government forces, which are recognized by the United Nations, has intensified sharply over the past several weeks.
The conflict has also spilled across Yemen’s borders, with the Houthis exchanging fire with Saudi Arabia, raising concerns that the war could spread further across the region.
