Local sources in Paktika province report that some residents of the Zirok district of this province have demanded to reopen the education doors to girls in a protest rally.
Sources on Saturday said that these protesters continued to criticize the Taliban authorities and said that female students should also be provided with the opportunity to learn modern sciences.
According to the sources, dozens of ethnic elders, youths, and religious scholars of the Zirok district participated in this protest.
Similarly, residents of the Nakeh district of this province, in a protest meeting had also demanded the immediate reopening of education doors to girls some days ago.
Based on a vague religious argument, in the very first days of entering Kabul, the Taliban group closed the education doors to girls above sixth grade and imposed several restrictions on the school curriculum. It has been more than a year that Afghan girls have been deprived of education and are completely pushed behind the walls.
Closing education doors to girls have more political motives rather than religious or cultural motives. Taliban has taken girls’ education as a hostage to get political leverage while negotiating with the international community and the world.
