The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced that nearly 1.29 million Afghan migrants have returned from Iran and Pakistan to Afghanistan by the end of September.

In a report published on Sunday, November 8, the agency said that approximately 43 percent of these individuals had been deported.

According to the report, more than 202,000 asylum-seekers and returnees have received cash assistance in border areas.

The report stated that approximately 340 vulnerable families in areas of return had received cash grants to help rebuild their lives.

The UN agency added that around 2,300 people in need of special support had received cash assistance.

UNHCR also said that nearly 2,600 families had received cash assistance to purchase essential household items.
