Kabul – The World Food Program (WFP) has said that it has provided food aid to 11.8 million people in Afghanistan in the current year.
The agency’s representative in Asia tweeted that it had helped 5.1 million people in October, another 4 million in September and 1.3 million in August.
On the other hand, the Executive Director of the World Food Program David Beasley warned on Tuesday, (November 10), that the next six months, especially the winter season, will be “hell on earth” for the people of Afghanistan.
“The situation is as terrible as you can imagine, but now we are witnessing a humanitarian crisis there and 95% of people do not have enough food,” David Beasley told the BBC.
Meanwhile, since the collapse of the regime in Afghanistan, the people have faced severe economic problems, as international organizations have repeatedly warned of a humanitarian catastrophe caused by hunger in Afghanistan.
