Media outlets controlled by the Taliban have reported that a delegation from Tajikistan has traveled to Kabul to strengthen political relations with the group.

Bakhtar News Agency, under Taliban control, reported on Saturday, 15 November 2025, that the delegation includes representatives from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, security agencies, and other government institutions.

According to the report, the purpose of the visit is to expand political, security, and trade relations.

It is said that the delegation will also discuss the Afghan embassy in Tajikistan with the Taliban.

The Taliban have described the Tajik delegation’s visit to Kabul as a shift in Dushanbe’s approach toward the group.

Officials from Tajikistan and the Taliban have previously held secret meetings.

Over the past four years, Tajikistan has been widely regarded as a host for opponents of the Taliban.
