An institution affiliated with Georgetown University in the United States has stated that Afghanistan has been identified as the worst country for women among 188 countries worldwide.

The organization said in its annual report on Wednesday, December 31, 202۵, that after Afghanistan, countries such as Yemen, Sudan, Haiti, and Burundi are ranked in the following positions.

In this report, the situation of women has been examined based on three main indicators: inclusion, justice, and security, and it shows that women in Afghanistan are in the lowest global position in terms of security and access to justice.

The report emphasizes that women and girls in Afghanistan continue to be among the most vulnerable social groups.

The report states that Afghanistan ranks at the bottom of the United Nations’ latest Gender Development Index, after Yemen.

According to the report, severe restrictions on women’s right to work and education have also seriously disrupted their access to humanitarian aid and basic services.

In another section of this report, it states that the streets of Afghanistan, like some other countries, are not considered a safe environment for women.

According to this report, one of the main factors of this situation is the policies and behaviors of the Taliban, who enforce their laws on women with violence by controlling their presence and behavior in the public sphere.

This is while the 2025 Global Peace Index shows that Afghanistan continues to be at the bottom of the table of the world’s most unstable countries.

According to this report, Afghanistan, with a ranking of 158 among 163 countries, has been identified as the fifth most insecure country in the world and the most unstable country in the South Asia region.
