The “Polio Free Afghanistan” organization has announced that a polio vaccination campaign will begin today across the country, except in Bamyan, Daikundi, and Ghor provinces.

The organization said on Monday, April 13, that the campaign in Bamyan, Daykundi, and Ghor provinces has been postponed due to cold weather.

According to the organization, the vaccination campaign in the mentioned provinces will be held next week.

Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health has said that the three-day campaign will vaccinate 12.6 million children under the age of five.

Polio has not yet been eradicated in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report, two polio cases were recorded last year in the provinces of Badghis and Helmand.
