The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has announced that it will provide employment and income-generating opportunities for around 2,000 people in Bamyan province.
UN-Habitat said on Thursday, October 1, that with support from the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, it will implement a “cash-for-work” program in Bamyan.
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme added that the initiative will be implemented under the “Forest” program, with participants receiving daily wages in exchange for their work.
The agency added that, in addition to creating livelihood opportunities, the initiative will help improve and strengthen local communities in Bamyan.
Around 2,000 people are expected to participate in the initiative and earn income by carrying out public-benefit projects.
