Kabul – The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that Afghanistan is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis and its fragile health system remains in dire need of support.

The report which was published on (Monday, January 17) states that the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), from November 2021 to January 2022, donated about $45 million to the (WHO) and UNICEF so as to support 2,149 health centers in 31 provinces of Afghanistan.

According to the report, essential medicines, medical equipment as well as heating fuel have been provided to health centers to meet their essential needs during the winter, adding the budget also includes other operating expenses, including the salaries of about 25,000 health workers.

There are still many challenges in Afghanistan that need to be solved. The country is currently facing outbreaks of acute watery diarrhea, measles, dengue fever, corona, and malaria, which has increased the burden on the fragile health system, (WHO) stressed.

The organization has stated that in addition to all efforts, more than 1,200 health centers and more than 11,000 health workers will not be covered in support of the organization.

The warnings come as the fourth wave of the Covid-19 has spread to Afghanistan since the recent changes, along with poverty and unemployment, and most corona medical centers in Afghanistan are also closed and there is very little medicine and medical equipment.
