WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) says that, with support from the European Union (EU) and in cooperation with its partners, health services for people affected by substance use disorders have been strengthened across Afghanistan.

The organization wrote on its X account on Wednesday, October 21, that 551 health workers, including 192 women, have received training across the country since the programme began.

According to the WHO, the training was conducted to improve the identification and management of substance use disorders and related mental health conditions at drug treatment centres.

The organization added that these efforts have increased the capacity of health services to provide quality care and support the recovery process for affected individuals.

The WHO stressed that strengthening these services helps better address the needs of individuals and communities affected by substance use disorders.
