Kabul – International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned that aid groups are not able to prevent a human catastrophe in Afghanistan, and the committee has called on the Taliban to cooperate with the committee.

The general director of Red Cross Robert Mardini has said that the Cross has increased its efforts besides other aid foundations since the takeover of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

So far, the precaution behavior which has taken by the international community to support the Taliban is very essential for providing basic services, he told Reuters.

Aid groups could provide temporary solutions according to their human resources composition, but Afghanistan’s crisis is multiple and critical, Mardini added.

Earlier, the development program of the United Nations had created the “Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan” that aims to the economic situation and the cash flow. Robert has said that this plan would solve the problem for three months.

According to Robert Mardini, from the 39 million population in Afghanistan, 30 percentage of them are under the threat of intense malnutrition, and 18 million citizens need humanitarian assistance.

Taliban had evicted the helpers in 1990; however, they have committed to maintaining their security now.

No humanitarian foundation could be replaced to the economy of a country, nor from preventing collapsing of it, Mardini said.

Since the fall of Ashraf Ghani’s government, the Central Bank’s Reserves have been frozen, and the collaborations of the international community have been ceased which have caused unemployment and poverty in the country.

The International Fund’s prediction shows that the economy of Afghanistan will be shrunk by 30% percent within the next year, and also UN findings indicate that 97% of the country’s population may live under the poverty line.
