The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported a missile strike on a ship that, according to the command, was violating the naval blockade of Iran.
CENTCOM said in a post on X early Wednesday, August 12, that the US Navy fired two Hellfire missiles at the vessel.
The US military claimed that the Panama-flagged ship was violating the naval blockade and heading toward an Iranian port, and that it had ignored warnings.
This comes as Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that Tehran would consider the continuation of the naval blockade of Iran as a continuation of the war.
