Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), has called for an end to conflicts worldwide and stressed the importance of respecting international law.

In a post on X on Thursday, October 22, Guterres wrote that conflicts around the world are not only intensifying but also spreading, with each conflict fueling further conflicts.

He stressed that wars must end everywhere and that international law must be respected.

The UN Secretary-General also called for the protection of civilians and respect for international rights and freedoms of navigation.

Guterres said diplomacy must be given a chance to pave the way for ending conflicts and achieving peaceful solutions.
