Iran’s Interior Ministry has announced that the deportation of migrants without valid residency documents is continuing.

Ali Zainivand, spokesperson for Iran’s Interior Ministry, said on Monday, August 10, that nearly two million undocumented Afghans have left Iran since March 2025.

The spokesperson said the plan to deport Afghan migrants is being carried out at an accelerated pace to manage and regulate the presence of foreign nationals in Iran.

He added that more than 200,000 people have voluntarily left Iran since the beginning of the current year after visiting relevant centers.

According to the spokesperson, the measure does not mean that all Afghans will be deported, and Afghans with valid residency documents will be required to pay part of the costs of public services.

Zainivand also said the bill on establishing a “National Migration Organization” in Iran’s parliament is in its final stages of review and will be finalized soon.
