Kabul – Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has announced that it has extended its contract to import electricity from Tajikistan until the end of 2022.
The company said in a statement today Monday that Breshna’s CEO Hafiz Mohammad Amin had signed an agreement with Tajik Electricity for another year during an official visit to Tajikistan.
The agreement was signed as a result of two days of negotiations between the two sides, as well as an agreement that was postponed from July to December this year due to political changes in Afghanistan, according to Breshna’s statement.
Moreover, Breshna Sherkat has stated that during the visit, regional and development projects such as CASA-1000 and the construction of a 500 kV line in the energy sector were discussed between the two sides, in addition, the company has expressed hope that these talks will yield positive results in the near future.
On the other hand, the Afghan delegation emphasized the continuation of joint cooperation and assured Tajikistan that Taliban forces are ready to provide security for the start of suspended projects, DABS added.
Meanwhile, the relations between Afghanistan and Tajikistan have become strained since the takeover, and this is the first visit of a Taliban-led delegation to Tajikistan.
