Kabul – According to media reports, drone strikes were carried out in Kunar province to target a senior Pakistani Taliban member near the Afghan-Pakistani border on Thursday, December 16, but failed.

However, the perpetrator of the attacks has not yet been identified.

The rockets fired by the drone at the Mawlawi Faqir Mohammad’s guest house of senior Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leaders did not explode, Reuters reported, quoting Pakistani Taliban sources.

However, a Pakistani Taliban source claimed that Faqir Mohammad was not injured in the attack.

Faqir Mohammad is a former deputy leader of the TTP, and he spent eight years in Bagram prison in Afghanistan and was released after the overthrow of the previous government by the Taliban, according to Reuters.

However, it has not yet been determined by which country the airstrikes were carried out.

In the meantime, the Pakistani Taliban ended a ceasefire agreed with the Pakistani government last week.

Local Taliban officials in Kunar have confirmed that the airstrike was carried out by a drone in the Chugam area of Sheltan district.

On the other hand, the Taliban has so far made no official statement about airstrikes in the east of the country.

“Pakistan fired missiles into Afghanistan and that the Foreign Ministry is following up,” said Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid to the media.

Meanwhile, the Shelton district was also a target of Pakistani rocket fire during the previous government.
