Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, has announced that 367 families, comprising 1,881 people, were forcibly returned to Afghanistan yesterday.
Fitrat said in a statement on Wednesday, August 12, that 233 families, comprising 1,243 people, entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar.
According to the statement, 43 families, comprising 263 people, entered through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar; 69 families, comprising 275 people, entered through the Silk Road route in Nimroz; and 22 families, comprising 100 people, entered the country through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat.
As the forced and voluntary return of Afghan migrants from neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan and Iran, has intensified, thousands of Afghan families have entered Afghanistan through various border crossings in recent months.
These returns are continuing as humanitarian organizations warn of the extensive needs of returning migrants, including shelter, food, healthcare and livelihood opportunities.
