Kabul – Local Taliban officials in Uruzgan province have asked government officials in the province to match their appearance to Islamic principles, grow beards, and put on a turban.

Mawlawi Talib, the governor’s representative for the province said during a speech on the occasion of tax collection week in Uruzgan province on Sunday, January 16, that government employees should align themselves with Islamic principles, change their appearance, put on a turban, and not shave their beard.

He called on the heads of Taliban-controlled government departments to train their staff in accordance with Islamic principles.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Evil has already instructed barbershops not to shave the beards of their customers, and now the majority of barbers are refusing to cut customers’ hair as western style.
