António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, has said that the world must confront injustice and inequality to ensure a better future with human dignity and sustainability for all people.
Guterres wrote on the X platform on Saturday, April 25, 2026, that inequality directly affects people’s life opportunities and shapes the future of societies.
He emphasized that inequality is not limited only to income and wealth, but also depends on who has access to power and who remains deprived of it.
Inequality at the global level is considered one of the major social and economic challenges, which is usually more severe in crisis-affected and low-income countries.
Unequal access to resources, opportunities, and power structures can deepen social divisions and complicate the process of sustainable development.
