The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced that 75 solar-powered greenhouses will be established in five provinces of Afghanistan during the next phase of its economic recovery project.

The agency said in a statement on Thursday, October 29, that the project supports sustainable agriculture and increased household incomes, aiming to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for vulnerable communities.

The UNDP said the project would help vulnerable families earn more income and improve their living conditions.

A large proportion of rural households in Afghanistan depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. However, a lack of job opportunities and economic difficulties have created challenges for their livelihoods.
