Antonio Guterres, secretary-general of the United Nations, has said that even after his term as secretary-general ends, he will continue to support peace, human dignity and the rule of law.
Guterres wrote on X on Friday, September 25, that fewer than 100 days remain in his term as UN secretary-general and that he would continue to approach the remainder of his tenure with “a spirit of determination and resolve.”
He added that commitment to the values of the United Nations is greater than any position and will endure beyond any title.
The UN secretary-general stressed that even after his term ends, he will continue to believe that peace is possible, human dignity is universal and the rule of law is essential.
Guterres also said humanity’s shared future is worth fighting for, adding: “I will never, ever give up.”
