The Women’s Movement for Freedom and Peace, in a statement, has strongly condemned the armed attack on a gathering of Shia Muslims in the Injil district of Herat province.
The movement said in a statement on Saturday, April 11, that the attack on a gathering in Herat is a clear violation of fundamental human rights and a clear example of a “crime against humanity.”
According to the statement, since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, the human rights situation has significantly deteriorated, and alongside widespread restrictions on fundamental freedoms, the presence of extremist and terrorist groups has also increased.
The Women’s Movement for Freedom and Peace has stressed that the Taliban’s claim of ensuring “nationwide security” is in clear contradiction with such deadly incidents and proves that the safety of citizens, particularly religious groups, is not guaranteed.
The movement has called on the international community, human rights organizations, and international bodies not to remain silent in the face of such attacks and to take urgent and serious action to identify and prosecute those responsible for these crimes.
The Women’s Movement for Freedom and Peace has added that indifference to these “human tragedies” will pave the way for the continuation of violence, extremism, and systematic human rights violations in Afghanistan.
