ICRC Appeals the World to Support Afghanistan’s Health Centers

Kabul – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has called for immediate global support for healthcare in Afghanistan.

According to ICRC, the COVID-19 vaccination process proceeds gradually into Afghanistan and the virus is spreading to all parts of the country.

As stated by the Red Cross, the outbreak of COVID-19 makes Afghanistan’s weak health care system more susceptible.

The International Committee quoted WHO as saying that about half of the samples tested for the coronavirus in Afghanistan are positive, showing a warning spread of the virus.

Hardly 10 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated, and the country’s delicate health system needs immediate global support to fight the rise in COVID-19 infections after dozens of health centers were closed due to drug shortages, according to ICRC.

In addition, the committee has confirmed that less than 10 of the 37 COVID-19 public health centers are active in the country.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross has complained about the spread of COVID-19 in the country, as officials at the Coronavirus Hospital have regularly complained about the failure of the authorities and aid groups.

In the meantime, it is said that they have not paid more staff of these hospitals for months and the health facilities in these hospitals are close to zero.
