Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, has announced that the fourth meeting of the India-Taliban Joint Committee was held in New Delhi.
In a statement released on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Jaiswal said the meeting was co-chaired by M. Anand Prakash, Joint Secretary for the Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran Division at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Shoaib Barialai, Director General for Political Affairs I at the Taliban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs added that the meeting covered all aspects of bilateral relations between India and the Taliban.
The meeting comes as India and the Taliban have expanded their diplomatic contacts in recent years on a range of issues.
