Iran’s military has claimed that it shot down an advanced Orbiter reconnaissance drone over the waters of the Strait of Hormuz.
Tasnim reported late Sunday, September 20, that Iran’s military public relations office made the claim in a statement.
According to the report, Iran’s military claimed that its air defense system shot down and destroyed the drone on Sunday evening.
Iran’s military and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces have previously claimed to have shot down and destroyed drones over the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
However, the Iranian military did not specify whether the drone belonged to one of the Arab Gulf states or to U.S. forces stationed in the region.
