The National Immigration Department of Iran has officially launched the distribution process for smart cards designed for foreign nationals and resident immigrants.

As the Tasnim News Agency reported on Saturday, November 11th, the National Immigration Department of Iran has confirmed its engagement with sponsorship offices linked to foreign nationals. The smart cards have already been issued, printed, and dispatched to sponsorship offices. The organization is actively collaborating with these offices to arrange appointments for the delivery of smart cards to the families of the individuals involved on a designated date and time.

According to the report, these smart cards serve a dual purpose, functioning as both identity documents and banking transactions.

It is important to highlight that Afghan citizens constitute a significant portion of the refugee population in Iran. With the Taliban assuming control, citizens of Afghanistan have sought refuge in Iran through both legal and illegal means.

In recent months, there has been a notable increase in the voluntary and forced repatriation of Afghan refugees from Iran.
