The Iran Human Rights Organization has reported the execution of two people, including an Afghan citizen, on drug-related charges in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

On Friday, June 25, the organization announced that the two individuals, including an Afghan citizen named Homayoun Norzahi, approximately 70 years old and originally from Kunduz province, were executed.

According to the report, the executions took place last week in the prison of Zabol district in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

The report states that Homayoun Norzahi was arrested about one year and seven months ago at the Milak border crossing on drug trafficking charges and was later sentenced to death.

This comes amid a recent increase in reports of Afghan citizens being executed in Iran on drug-related charges.
