Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that, in any potential agreement with the United States, Tehran’s focus is on ending the war on all fronts, and that there is no discussion of the status of the Strait of Hormuz.
Tasnim News Agency reported on Monday, May 25, that Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this during his weekly press briefing with journalists.
Baqaei said that the focus of the negotiations is on ending the war, and at this stage, there will be no discussion of the nuclear program.
Regarding a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon, he said it is included in the agreement’s text.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that there is no discussion in the potential agreement about the Strait of Hormuz, and that its management is the responsibility of the coastal countries.
He also said that there are currently no plans for an Iranian delegation to visit Pakistan.
This comes amid widespread reports the previous day of significant progress in negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan.
