Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul held a phone call to discuss the Strait of Hormuz.
Al Jazeera reported early Tuesday, August 11, that the two foreign ministers also discussed efforts to end tensions in the region.
According to the report, Araghchi said securing the strait requires an end to US military actions, particularly the naval blockade of Iranian ports.
Wadephul said he stressed to Araghchi the need for constructive engagement in negotiations with neighboring countries and the United States to end the conflict.
The German foreign minister also said the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened unconditionally to ensure freedom and security of navigation for all.
