Gholam Hossein Darzi, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, has warned of what he described as “continuous threats” from the United States and Israel, including the possibility of using the “Mother of All Bombs” against Iran.
Al Jazeera reported early Tuesday, October 20, that Darzi raised the issue in a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the UN Security Council.
According to the report, Darzi called on the Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to address the matter.
Last week, several US media outlets reported that Washington had drawn up plans to strike Iran’s energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities using the largest non-nuclear bomb in its arsenal, should US President Donald Trump order a resumption of combat operations.
Tehran, meanwhile, has warned that if such weapons are used, it will target infrastructure across the entire region.
