Abu Ala al-Walai, leader of the Iraqi armed group Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada, has called on Iraqi lawmakers to stand against U.S. pressure on Iran.
Al Jazeera reported early Saturday, Sept. 26, that Iraq’s government should refrain from supporting the sanctions on Iran.
According to the report, al-Walai called on the Iraqi parliament to pressure the government to reject what he described as “U.S. pressure to support the blockade of Iran.”
He described the U.S. sanctions on Iran as an “unjust blockade.”
Meanwhile, recent reports have emerged that Iranian airlines have suspended flights to neighboring countries, including Iraq.
