At least four people have been injured in a series of powerful explosions at an ammunition depot at a Syrian army base near Aleppo, with authorities urging residents to stay away from the area.
Al Jazeera reported early Monday, September 21, that the explosions occurred at an army base in the town of Al-Eis, near Aleppo.
According to the report, Faisal Mohammed Ali, head of Aleppo Civil Defense operations, said rescue teams had evacuated four injured people from the scene.
He said “ongoing explosions” had prevented rescue teams from reaching the site and urged civilians to stay away from the area.
Meanwhile, Aleppo Governor Azzam Al-Gharib urged residents to remain inside their homes until further notice, adding that “hospitals, ambulance teams and rescue teams are on full alert.”
The cause of the explosions at the ammunition depot at the Syrian army base remains unclear.
