The Taliban said that 209 families, comprising 1,017 people, were returned to Afghanistan through various routes yesterday.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, said in a statement on Wednesday, September 9, that 95 families, comprising 536 people, returned through the Torkham border crossing.
According to the statement, 31 families entered Afghanistan through Spin Boldak, 57 families through Nimroz, and 26 families through the Islam Qala border crossing.
This comes as families returning to Afghanistan face various challenges in rebuilding their lives.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said that about 22 million people in Afghanistan will need humanitarian assistance this year.
