Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, says Pakistan is not adequately prepared to resolve its disputes with the Taliban through peaceful means.
In an interview with the Hurriyat Radio under Taliban control on Saturday, October 31, Mujahid said the group had made its final efforts to ease tensions with Pakistan through dialogue, but these efforts had so far produced no results.
He added that messages had been exchanged between the Taliban and Islamabad and that mediating countries had also made efforts to reduce tensions, but these initiatives had been unsuccessful.
The Taliban spokesperson said Pakistan’s insistence on what he called “wrong policies” was an obstacle to resolving the tensions.
Mujahid stressed that the Taliban had not initiated the problems and remained committed to resolving disputes through negotiations and dialogue.
His remarks come as tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan have escalated in recent months, while diplomatic efforts to ease disagreements between the two sides have so far failed to produce results.
