The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported a worsening humanitarian situation in southern Afghanistan.
OCHA said on Wednesday, November 4, that health facilities in the region are facing overcrowding and an increase in hospital admissions due to severe malnutrition.
The agency added that poverty and hunger have exacerbated families’ difficulties and further strained their livelihoods.
OCHA also said families are facing multiple crises simultaneously, while the resources available to assist them are declining.
Afghanistan has faced several humanitarian crises in recent years, including poverty, hunger, malnutrition, climate change, and the effects of droughts and floods.
These crises have placed additional pressure on vulnerable families and increased the need for humanitarian assistance.
