Local sources say that following recent Pakistani airstrikes, several families in Kandahar and Helmand have left their homes to protect themselves from possible attacks, while some have also built shelters.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Sunday, October 4, that the recent attacks have increased concerns among residents of the two provinces, with people fearing that the attacks could be repeated.
According to the sources, in Garmser district of Helmand, a number of families have built underground shelters to protect themselves and their family members.
In Kandahar, local sources also say that many families have left their homes in areas near military facilities due to fears of airstrikes.
According to the sources, people are also less willing to live in or rent homes in areas located near Taliban military facilities because they fear these areas could be targeted in airstrikes.
They say that residents of Kandahar and Helmand are also under psychological pressure and, in light of the recent attacks, remain concerned at every moment about renewed clashes.
These concerns come as Pakistan’s air force has targeted parts of Kandahar and Helmand with airstrikes in recent days and, according to information from local sources, the attacks have also caused casualties.
