Kabul – The General Directorate of Passports has announced that the distribution of passports has now been suspended due to technical problems with biometric machines.
At 9:50 pm, Alem Gul Haqqani, head of the passport office, issued a statement saying that the biometric machines were facing technical problems and were not storing information.
The operation will be stopped for a few days in the capital, he added.
“After resolving the technical problems of the biometric machines, the passport process will be resumed,” he said.
Meanwhile, thousands of people gather in front of the department in Kabul every day to obtain passports.
