The organization “Polio-Free Afghanistan” has announced that children under five years old in various parts of the country face a high risk of contracting polio.
On Tuesday, February 10, the organization wrote on its X page that the immunity level of these children is low, and for this reason, it is essential that they be vaccinated by vaccination teams during all campaigns and when moving from one location to another.
Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) had also announced that to protect children’s health, it had vaccinated thousands of children in Afghanistan’s border areas against various diseases, including polio and measles.
This comes as many remote and underserved areas in Afghanistan face the risk of polio outbreaks and other vaccine-preventable diseases.
The United Nations has also repeatedly emphasized that regular vaccination of children, particularly in remote and underserved areas, plays a vital role in preventing the spread of polio and other diseases.
