Polio-Free Afghanistan says that continued humanitarian support and cooperation can help eradicate polio in Afghanistan and around the world.
The organisation wrote on its X account on Monday, October 26, that the cooperation and support of its donors and partners play an important role in efforts to eradicate polio.
Polio-Free Afghanistan stressed that efforts to eradicate the disease in Afghanistan must be strengthened to ensure that the last remaining unvaccinated children receive the polio vaccine.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) had announced that Afghanistan is one of only two countries in the world where the poliovirus remains present.
Despite extensive efforts to prevent the spread of polio, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that 42 cases of poliovirus had been confirmed in Afghanistan in 2026.
